A meme for me! It's been a while since I have done one of these. The fabulous MommyBrain tagged me. If you have not *met* her, you must go check out her blog. She's great.
K, so here are the rules:
Rules are:
1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
Alrighty, so seven things about me......
1. I am turning 30 this year. Is there much more to say about that? I think not. For now. Although, my MIL says it was a great decade.
2. I LOVE chocolate. Dark choc. specifically.
3. I ate peanut butter& jelly sandwiches EVERY day for lunch in elementary school. Actually, it was grape jam. I don't really like jelly. Jam for me. If my mom tried to give me anything else (like an egg salad sandwich) I would refuse to eat my lunch. Really. I would just eat the banana or apple that came along in my lunch box and call it a day.
4. I have one sister ( my big sis, who is also a great friend...now that we're all grown up) who has gorgeous auburn hair and green eyes. I am a brunette with dark eyes. How did that happen?! We look nothing alike, but sound so much alike that even our mom sometimes has a difficult time telling us a part on the phone. Thank goodness for caller ID! Although it was pretty fun when we were both still living at home and our boyfriends (now husbands) would call. Our kids however, are NEVER fooled. They know their mommy's voice.
5. I like coffee. a lot. I also like tea. a lot.
6. Growing up my favorite color for most of my life has been purple. More like aubergine ( like plum). I made my prom dress in that color. However, there is not a single color of purple in my home decor. How odd is that? My in-laws thought for sure that our wedding registry would be full of all things purple. Nope. Instead, there was more green than anything. Which is funny now, being that my son's favorite color is green.
7. Obviously, I like doing fun crafty things and sewing. I have designed and made things for as long as I can remember. However, I didn't with my own wedding dress and have always regretted not doing so. Not that I didn't like mine, I loved it. Just one of those things I really wanted to do and allowed myself to be influenced otherwise. It's a lesson learned. BUT, I am still madly in-love with my husband after almost 8 years! So, no regrets there. :)
K, so those are my seven things.....now who to TAG???
I am gonna tag:
1.Stephanie over at A Little Moore
2. Erin over at The Vintage Pearl
3.Steph over at MoonPie Designs
4. Andrea over at Baby Mulholland
5.Val over at It's me, Val
6. Melissa over here
7. Mary over here.
That was fun. If I didn't tag you, but you would still like to join the fun, well, please do! Leave a comment so I can come for a visit to your meme!
Happy weekend!

The Missing Pins
Not sure how it happened or why or where, but I noticed that my pins (ya know, the ones for sewing and such?) had dwindled down a bit. To almost nothing actually. I was wanting to cut out a top pattern and I realized I had no pins (well, not enough anyway) to use to pin the pattern to the fabric. SO, off I went to the store to get some more. Before that, I did look around to see where they could possibly have happened to (like the bin of lost projects that are just begging to be finished....), but no where were they found. And it's something I know my son could not have done. He knows better. I think.
Anyway, so off to the store. Did I remember the pins when I went and got totally distracted by the new fabrics and some tempting patterns? No. I did not. I walked out without pins. Obviously there was some frustration when getting home and realizing I did not have pins to pin my pattern to the fabric. No matter. I decided I would go the next day after dropping the child off at school. Did I remember to get the pins? NO! Totally got distracted again! I am telling you, I have a problem. I cannot focus in such big places like the newer Joanns here. There is just TOO much stuff like pretty garden things to look at. How could I possibly remember pins? My sister swears I have craft ADD. She must be right!
Third try. I did it! I remembered to go and find pins! But, when I got there the selection was slightly overwhelming. Apparently it's been a while since I needed pins (obviously). Either that or I just never paid enough attention to the gagillions of different kinds that there are! Seriously, there was almost a wall of just pins! All kinds! I just wanted ones like the pretty, pearly fun colors I had at home (somewhere). Finally after standing there for what seemed like , well, forever, I found the ones I wanted! Whew. Then I decided to get the blazes outta there before I got distracted.....again.....
Does this ever happen to you???

Fabric Card Set
K, here they are as promised.....new Fabric Greeting Cards! They come in sets of three cards, each with a different fabric hand-sewn onto the card.
This is the "Cherry Blossom" set set on a crisp white color card stock. Fun and bright.
I came up with the idea for these when I was trying to think of something fun and creative to use up bits of fabric that were left from the applique designs I do. I did not want to just toss them and my bin of "scraps" was getting pretty full, so some fun cards with pretty fabric seemed like just the thing!
This next set is "Tangerine and Lime" in dots and stripes on a soft ecru color card stock. Yumm.
I had so much fun making these! These will be going up in my SHOP soon and will also be up for grabs in the GIVEAWAY! Don't forget to leave a comment between now and March 31st to be entered into the random drawing that will be happening on April 1st!
Happy Monday to you!

You're invited to the party!
::NOTE: this is a *sticky* post. Please scroll down to see New posts.::
Well, who doesn't love a party?! This just sounded like too much fun to pass up, so come on! Let's get this party started! The Ultimate Blog Party....woohoo!
Welcome and thanks for stopping by my little part of this awesome blog party! For those new to my blog, my name is Jaime and I am wife, mother of 1 (of course I want more, but it's all in God's hands. Currently my son is praying for twins!..). I am mostly a sahm, however, I am not sure that accurately describes us moms....are we ever really home much? Even with one, there are plenty of activities to keep me busy! I also have a little biz of handmade goods that I sell over at Etsy as well as some boutiques. I love making things by hand, especially for adorable little wee ones to wear. I started this blog mainly to post about crafty type things, however, it seems to include all sorts of things from family to the goings on in my life, and just *stuff* in general.
Some of my favorite things:
Starbucks coffee (current fav is the Cinnamon Dolce Latte..yumma!)
dark chocolate
Izzy pomegranate juice
eating strawberries and kiwi together
making fun crafty things with my son, like flubber!
PBS channel
watching my son play soccer
Jane Austen novels
vintage anything
hmmm, this list could go on.....
However, must not keep you from the blog hopping party! Thanks for visiting! Leave a comment below so I know you were here and can come visit you!

Impromptu Puppet Show
What to do with a lonely sock that has no match and some on-hand fuzzy pom pom deals? Make a puppet of course! I must be feeling extra mom&kid crafty this week. Well, it is Spring Break here so there has been more time to do such things. It's nice.
So here is what we did:
-One lonely sock
-fuzzy craft pom poms (or whatever you call them)
-needle and thread
Decide where you want everything placed, take your needle and thread and sew the little fuzzy balls on. Tada! That simple. You could glue them on too, but be careful if using hot glue. Regardless, sew or glue with sock NOT on the child's hand. Much safer that way.
Now, go have a puppet show!

Rainy Day Fun
Wow, the first day of Spring Break and it's pouring rain. I mean, we're drenched and there is no sign of it letting up anytime soon. Bummer. However, that is what rainy day activities are for, right?! So, here ya go. This is what we did today for such a time as this:
Foam (or whatever else you might have on hand that would work just as well) Hanging Picture Frames!
Great for kids rooms and totally friendly for them to *update* as they wish.
I had some left over craft foam rectangles we used to make "license plates" at my son's last birthday (it was Cars themed). I had some pics from a dear friend that were of my son and his best friend. Where better for them to go than in some fun frames for his room?! Right, so moving on, here is what I used:
-Foam rectangles (two per frame. One for front, one for back)
-ribbon (or string or whatever you have that would work)
-scissors
-marker for tracing
Take your foam
Like so. One for the front, one for the back. Then take a picture and place it face down on one side. This is important cause you will be cutting the *frame* out slightly smaller than the picture and you don't want to see the marker tracing on the front. Unless you like that sorta thing.
Cut out slightly smaller that what you traced like this:
Pardon the not so great pics today. It's so gloomy and dark that it's nearly impossible to get a decent photo without the flash. Obviously you can tell by my super great pics, right?!
K, then poke some holes where you wish in the foam and thread ribbon through. Poke holes, thread ribbon, poke holes, thread ribbon some more....
You with me? Makes sense?
Then, once you thread it all together, it should look something like this on the back
And like this on the front
Then, you just slip your pictures in like so
Totally kid friendly so they can add pics as they wish!
Tada!

Vintage Fun
I bought this vintage trim years ago on ebay and just could not wait to get it! I was so disappointed though when it arrived in the mail. It looked nothing like it did in the picture and it arrived in a rumpled up ball like the one pictured here. Not that I didn't think it, I did. Just not for the project I had gotten it for. I remember spending a good part of an afternoon trying to get it all untangled, only to get so frustrated with it I put it back into the bag it came in and tossed it in the back of a closet. I discovered it again this week and just fell in love with it! Does that ever happen to you? See something, love it. Get it, its awful and then re-discover it only to finally see it's beauty and potential? That's what I did. It was still all tangled like this, so I spent about an hour yesterday untangling it. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it. I immediately thought of a great project for it too.
This is a baby jacket my great-grandmother completely handmade for my mother ages ago. This picture really does not do it justice. It's beautiful though with her hand embroidery, satin lining and crotchet work on the edges. There is not one machine stitch on it. OH, to be able to embroider and sew like she did! I never met her, but I've been told we're very similar in looks ad personality. Must be where I get my love of hand-sewing from. Anyway, I am planning on drafting a pattern based on this jacket she made and use some of that delightful vintage trim on it. I will post more about it as I go along. I just hope I can get the vision in my head out on paper and fabric the way I would like.
