Some cooking, some not

I decided to try this new recipe I came upon for a "healthy" alternative to chicken tenders and fries. Sadly, I did not take any pictures of the results....they went way to fast! The fries did not turn out quite how I thought they would, but the were still good. I think I would make them crispier next time since I don't think I baked 'em long enough. Oh well. I also have to say, an easy short cut to the almond coating for the chicken is simply using almond flour. I did the whole sliced almond in the blender ( I regret that I do not have a food processor...yet) and it didn't work out so well for me. It was all blended well together, except there were still nice bits of almonds left. No matter, I used the mix anyway and threw in some almond flour to try and make up for the lack of ground almonds. I was slightly concerned that my son would see the nice chunks of almonds and make that awful face that makes a mom wonder why in the world did she just slaved over this meal (ya know the one, right?). However, he totally didn't even notice them and gobbled the things down like there was no tomorrow! Whew. SO, for next time I think I am gonna just use the almond meal/flour deal and not even bother with the blender/food processor part. I love almond flour, I really do. SO good and healthy for so many different things! Anyone else use it or have any good recipes they like with it? Please do tell!

Yummmm...Lollipops!

All that thinking and drawing some designs last week came to this.... Lollipop Trees! Yummm.

Ya never know just how the design in your head will actually come out on the finished product, but I asked the all important "inspector" of such (otherwise known as my son) what he thought this design looked like. He instantly replied "Lollipops! Yum!". SO, mission accomplished. Whew.

This design, along with a few other new ones as well as some past favorites, will be available when the SHOP update happens on February 1!

Pretty Butterflies

This is a little something I have been working on the last couple weeks. It's actually a birthday gift for my mom-in-law (no peaking or telling if you are related to me by marriage and reading this!). I thought it would be fun to take some colorings that my son drew just special for his Nana and hand embroider them on some tea towels. He chose to do butterflies. He originally wanted to make her butterfly wings (ya know like little girl fairy type wings) for her because as he put it, "Nana likes butterflies and she could pretend to be one!". I have to admit, the thought of my dear, sweet mom-in-law dancing around in butterfly wings gave me a chuckle. I thought his thinking was very sweet though since after all, she does like butterflies! Isn't it funny how kids think?
Anyway, this gift is running a little late. Her birthday was the 7th! I better get back to working on it....

Happy Monday to you!

a little shattered

My favorite coffee mug was smashed to bits yesterday. My poor, dear husband (who happens to be the one who gave it to me before we were married) was taking it to the kitchen (for me) to poor me some coffee and as he was passing through the laundry (which I had just folded from the dryer) he slipped on a dryer sheet (oops, missed that one!) and went sliding into the kitchen and SMASH! went my mug. I am pretty bummed about it. I've been drinking my coffee out of it for the past ten years....wow, did I just say TEN years??? Didn't realize it's been that long. Well, seeing how we're coming up on eight years of marriage (LOVE that man!) and he gave it to me before then, which was about two years before we were married....yup, it would be that long! Oh, how coffee will not be the same.....

Good news is, my adoring husband is OK! Coffee mug, well I think the picture says enough about that. Anyone have any good ideas on what do to with broken pieces of a mug that may or may not be replaceable? Other than toss it, of course.

A little fabric inspiration

It's a new year and my craft room has a new paint color! I decided, why not? The room needed some brightening up and I was very inspired by this fabric a few months ago.

This is the before...unfortunately, I didn't remembered to take the "before" picture until after I had already gotten everything out of the room! SO, this will have to do.

Not that the color before was bad, I actually liked it. The main problem was that even though the location of my craft room works great, it does not get as much natural light as I would like. So, I thought this nice, bright paint color would help me out a bit!

It also needed a bit of re-organizing....

There is still a bit more work to be done, but I am liking it all so far, whatcha think?!
