Sad Tomatoes

Things that can make one not so happy when looking at their veggie garden:

Oooh, how I love little birdies, but NOT when they eat my tomatoes! This is the third one in two days. So sad.

Anyone got some suggestions on how to prevent this? I should add, in a safe and chemical free way. :)

Here's hoping the weekend sees more tomatoes eaten.....by my family...

Happy Friday to you!

  1. I've seen people drape little light wieght fishnets (or some kind of netting) over the plants. Don't know where you would get such though.

  2. I have heard about some stuff called "bird netting". Might be a good idea. Just hope no birdies get caught in it...that would make me more sad!

Thanks for the tip. Gonna check it out later today and I will report back a a few weeks! :)

  4. I am sort of a lurker on your blog but thought I would offer this:

Some birds do not like certain essential oils, especially lavender and cinnamon. You can dip sticks into these oils and stick them around your plants. Sometimes this helps. Plus it smells yummy.
